At Ozaccom+, we think ‘green’ and tread lightly.…

Ozaccom+ seriously considers its corporate responsibilities to the environment and the wider community.

That’s why we:

• +donated clothing valued at more than $3000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal in 2009
• +provide View (Smith Family) with in-kind conference services
• +lent practical support to the Starlight Foundation by providing office space rent-free for two years.

We are committed to measures designed to reduce our carbon footprint.

We encourage our staff and business partners to tread lightly too. In fact, we insist on it!

Ozaccom+ has put its corporate shoulder behind the global push for a cleaner, sustainable future by:

• +using suppliers where possible who demonstrate they have environmental programmes/services in place for energy- and water-saving, effective waste management, and eliminating hazardous waste
• +using email for our written communications with clients and suppliers (rooming lists and layouts, event orders, accounts etc)
• +minimising packaging waste by reusing boxes and packing materials
• +reducing carbon emissions by using local suppliers, talent and products, whenever possible
• +encouraging our clients to adopt a carbon offset programme when their event involves extensive travel
• +replacing printed marketing materials with electronic and, whenever possible, double-siding printed pages and copies. We also ask presenters to minimise printed handouts.
• +imposing a nominal surcharge on printed publications when an electronic version is available
• +investing in ‘cleaning’ and validating mailing lists to eliminate print wastage and hard copy postage costs. (It makes our clients look more professional, too!)
• +limiting printed materials to essential information; directing readers to a website for additional information
• +replacing traditional delegate handouts (programme booklets, abstract books, full conference papers etc.) with electronic alternatives
• +using printing companies committed to sustainability through the use of waterless printing, vegetable-based inks and recycled paper
• +using electronic signage and wherever possible, producing generic printed signs that can be reused
• +reducing food miles by basing menus on fresh, seasonal and local produce
• +maintaining an accurate database of registration numbers and function bookings to reflect accurate attendance numbers, thus minimising food waste and other costs
• +recommending reusable decorations, such as living plants or silk flowers
• +using low-energy lighting in exhibitions
• +using reusable materials for exhibition stands
• +minimising the use of air conditioning at non-peak periods, where practical
• +ensuring the event satchel is essential and will be used again by delegates, as well as selecting satchels made of environmentally friendly material
• +providing details of local public transport, and/or arranging for shuttles to take attendees to and from the airport, and the venue.
